SCCA Time Trials
Push Your Limits, One Lap at a Time
SCCA Time Trials are on-track events that give drivers the chance to experience the thrill of performance driving in their own street-legal cars. Unlike wheel-to-wheel racing, Time Trials focus on individual skill, precision, and lap times, making it a safe and approachable way to challenge yourself on the track.
How It Works
Participants drive on a closed course with two main formats:
- Time Attack: Compete to set your fastest single lap of the session.
- TrackSprint: Focus on the fastest timed segment from a standing start, testing acceleration, braking, and cornering skills.
Passing is controlled through a point-by system, ensuring safety while letting drivers push their cars to the limit.
Why Time Trials?
Time Trials are designed for drivers who want to improve their performance without the pressure of wheel-to-wheel racing:
- Skill Development: Build confidence in car control, braking, and cornering.
- Driver Enjoyment: Focus on personal improvement and the joy of driving at speed.
- Accessible: Open to all skill levels, from first-timers to experienced enthusiasts.
- Street-Legal Cars Welcome: Drive your own car—no special modifications required, though prepared cars are encouraged for those who want to push harder.
Who Should Participate?
- New drivers looking for a low-barrier entry into performance driving.
- Solo and Track Event enthusiasts seeking more structured on-track experience.
- Experienced drivers who want to test their limits and improve lap times.
- Anyone who enjoys precision driving and wants a safe, controlled environment to push their car.
Event Experience
Time Trials sessions are structured to maximize both learning and fun:
- Multiple runs per session to track improvement.
- Classroom or on-track debriefs with experienced instructors.
- Emphasis on safety, fun, and personal growth rather than competition.
Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned track driver, SCCA Time Trials provide the perfect balance of thrill, skill-building, and personal achievement on track, pace or test yourself against the clock, there’s a place for you on track with SCCA.
